Smoothy: art and light by Octavio Amado at Index - Dubai 2007

The designer Octavio Amado is a creator and editor of luminaries, reinvent lighting. The new collection, Smoothy, which offers art and functional asset, is a step in searching original form, stressing the matter changing and the variations of colors.

Octavio Amado is an Argentinian artist, editor and designer living in Paris. He expresses a contemporary style as regards lighting, metamorphosing the luminaries into art work. The new collection, Smoothy, respects this creative trend. Based on innovating matters (flexible mirrors, optical materials, translucent, LED), these luminaries become fine and poetic sculptures. On a metal frame floats a flexible dressing, a principle which makes the luminaries foldable for travelers. This light structure integrates a system of lighting with electroluminescent diodes, whose intensity and color can be modulated, according to needs or desires, by means of a computer program.

This collection, made up of a broad panel of parts: lamps to be posed, lamps with stands, wall-brackets, mobiles, suspensions and is equipped with a modular system making it possible to adjust its dimensions to small spaces (apartments, offices) as to non-standard places (hall of buildings, stair-wells, etc). Smoothy is declined in various colors: white, colored, optical, mirrors or translucent assembled on gold, silver or bronze.

One of the emblematic models of the line is the Brother mobile. This spectacular suspension made up of seven elements, is presented in the form of a true artistic installation. Brother is already present in various restaurants, hotels, libraries... and is exposed in galleries of design in Paris.

Octavio Amado declines its creations (lamps, installations, walls, tables and other light sculptures) on three sectors: products manufactured in series intended for general public and distributed through networks of stores of design; luminaries classified fire resistance for the public working sites; and the single parts, carried out on order, for buildings, restaurants, hotels, collectors and interior decorators. He also regularly designs products for other marks.
