Dubai Customs opened the contributions opportunities for its employees and clients in support for "Dubai Cares" campaign. These contributions witnessed also the participation of the executive directors from different departments within Dubai Customs.

Dubai Customs Director General, Mr. Ahmed Butti Ahmed said that Dubai Cares Campaign relies on His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum vision in recognizing education as the best long-term solution to alleviate poverty in the developing world.

"Additionally, it is also one of the most powerful instruments for laying the basis for sustained economic growth, sound governance and effective institutions," he added.

"Dubai Customs decided to channel the annual savings from the Running Cost Reduction Program as a contribution to Dubai Cares Campaign. This amount is around Dhs10m," he said.

"Dubai Cares" Campaign joins many initiatives launched by Dubai to ensure the education for children around the world. United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) figures indicate that 121 million children around the world are out of school.

"Dubai Cares" campaign seeks to shine the light of knowledge and dispel the darkness of ignorance by giving one million children in poor countries a hope for the future and an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty that threatens to entrap them and consign their families to a life with no real future.
