World Dental Parliament General Assembly convenes in Dubai

The General Assembly (A) of World Dental Parliament convened its meeting at Sheikh Rashid Hall, Dubai International Conference and Exhibition Centre, earlier today.

The delegates are currently in Dubai for fdi Annual World Dental Congress and Exhibition 2007, also referred to as fdi Dubai 2007, starting on October 24 till the 27th. The General Assembly comprises delegates representing dental associations from fdi member countries.

In his welcome address, Abdul Salam Al Madani, Member of fdi Dubai 2007 Organising Committee, reiterated HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, patronage and support to the Congress, and added that 23,000 delegates, including 5,000 international dentists, have registered till date for fdi Dubai 2007.

Referring to the special relations between fdi and UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC), he said: "This collaboration has resulted in the continuing education programme, which is supported by fdi across two spheres - through its speakers and accreditation to dental professionals. The education programme is held every year in Dubai."

Al Madani also also stated UAE's relations with fdi will be strengthened with the Congress and it will continue to play a pivotal role in the future.

Information Note about fdi:
'fdi Dubai 2007' has partnered with Emirates Airlines to offer 50% off published IATA air fares. The organizers have tied up with 46 hotels in Dubai to offer special rates to delegates attending the Congress. Dubai's Road Transport Authority (RTA) will run 50 VIP buses between the airport, various hotels and the convention centre to facilitate smooth transportation of the delegates. The Naturalization and Residency Department will also run a special work group to ensure visas for the participants.
