Dubai Healthcare City opens registration for region's first Boston University Post-Graduate Dental Institute in Dubai

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of Tatweer, announced today it will receive applications for enrolment in the Boston University Institute for Dental Research and Education Dubai, at the FDI Annual World Dental Congress and Exhibition 2007, which opens today and will run until 27 October.
Boston University is featured at Booth No: 449 - 452 in Hall 7 of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Providing premium education to dental professionals in the region, the Boston University Institute for Dental Research and Education Dubai will offer a curriculum comparable to that of The Boston University School of Dental Medicine in the United States.
Specialists, trained in the US and senior faculty members of Boston University, will be the faculty delivering lectures and clinical demonstrations at the Institute.
The Boston University Institute will offer degrees such as the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) and the Master of Science (MSD) in various specialties; General Dentistry, Dental Public Health, Endodontics, Implantology, Operative Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry and Periodontology. The programs are currently in the process of getting approval from the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research.
The institute and the dental health center will be serviced by a dental director and 20 full-time faculty and academic specialists.
Eventually, the institute will include around 50 students in training with about 20 graduates per year. When fully operational, the Dental Health Center will comprise 50 chairs sharing some 30,000 square feet of space with the institute.
Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, CEO of Dubai Healthcare City, said: "The collaboration with such a renowned academic institution once again validates DHCC's vision to provide a platform for state-of-the-art healthcare, medical education and research in the Gulf region. The institute will change the face of dental care by providing specialist dental services and raise the proficiency of professionals through periodic "Continuing Dental Education" CDE courses."
The Boston University Dubai aims to become the region's leading dental academic establishment, setting global standards in dental research, education and care in the Gulf region. It will achieve this by combining its extensive clinical experience with a strong academic program.
The Boston University Dental Health Center Dubai will provide comprehensive, prevention-oriented and specialty focused dental services to the region's residents as well as to visitors.
Professor Thomas Kilgore, Associate Dean in the office of Advanced Education and International Programs at Boston University and Chief Academic Officer of the Institute in Dubai, said: "The Center will offer high quality dental treatment in a caring, pleasant environment. To us, our patient is the most important part of our success, and in all our processes, we ensure that state-of-the-art clinical services remains our topmost priority. Our services will cover a wide spectrum of specialties, ranging from paediatric dentistry to prosthetic dentistry, periodontal therapy, implant dentistry, advanced general dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics and oral surgery."
The DHCC already hosts leading healthcare institutes offering advanced healthcare services for the region and continuing medical education programs for medical professionals, including the Harvard Medical School Dubai Center, the Mayo Clinic and the Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai.
