Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards to honour maritime industry's best

Almost 60 companies and organisations have been short-listed for 24 award categories at the prestigious annual regional awards recognising maritime safety and the environment, ship and port operations and efficiency, security and financing.

The annual Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards is to be staged at Al Johara Ballroom, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, on 5 November 2007. The high level event is expected to be attended by around 800 senior executives of the region's maritime industry.

For 20 years Seatrade has presented awards championing high standards and quality in shipping issues. The scheme is designed to celebrate and reward excellence and innovation across the region over the previous 12 months.

The categories and the short-listed companies and organisations are:

• Safety and Quality Award - Gulf Energy Maritime (GEM), Vela International Marine, Oasis Maritime Services
• Technical Innovation Award - DP World- Nhava Sheva, Marine Biz TV, Saudi Aramco-Marine Department
• Environnment Protection Award - APM Maersk, Saudi Aramco-Marine Department, Vela International Marine
• Education and Training Award - Unique Maritime Group, Anglo-Eastern Maritme Training Centre, Tolani Maritime Institute
• Ship Repair/Shipard Award - NICO International, Drydocks World Dubai, ABG Shipyard
• Port Authority Award - Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Ras Laffan Industrial City, DP World-UAE Region
• Marine Insurance Award - Oman Insurance Company, The Oriental Insurance Company, New India Assurance Company
• Ship Manager Award - Orient Express Ship Management, International Tanker Management, Mideast Ship Management
• Ship Owner/Operator Award - National Shipping Co of Saudi Arabia, The Shipping Corporation of India, Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines, United Arab Shipping Company
• Container Terminal Operator Award - Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Gateway Terminals India, DP World-UAE Region
• Tanker Operator Award - NITC, The National Shipping Co of Saudi Arabia, Varun Shipping Company
• Bulk Operator Award - Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines, Emarat Maritime, ETA Trading and Shipping Division
• Marine and Offshore Services Award - Seaport International Shipping Company, Varun Shipping Company, Nico Middle East
• Ship Finance Award - National Bank of Fujairah, Bank Muscat, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank
• Classification Society Award - Lloyd's Register EMEA, Det Norske Veritas, Indian Register of Shipping
• Ship Agent Award - Samsara Group, GAC Shipping, Sharaf Shipping Agency
• Workboats Award - Svitzer Middle East, NICO Middle East, Saudi Aramco-Marine Department
• Energy: Oil and Gas Award - Lamprell Energy, Khushroo Kiash-DP World Subcontinent Region, Varun Shipping Company
• Ship Broker Award - Scan Trans Middle East, Clarkson FZE, Barry Rogliano Salles, Middle East
• Maritime Law Award - Clyde & Co., Fichte & Co Legal Consultancy, EHS of Ports, Customs and Freezone Corporation Dubai
• Free Zone Authority Award - Hamriyah Free Zone Authority, Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, Salalah Free Zone
• Transport/Logistics/Freight Award - GAC Logistics, APM-Maersk, Qatar Gas Transport Company ( NAKILAT )
• Deal of the Year Award - Allcargo Global Logistics, Saudi Aramco-Marine Department

There will also be a Personality of the Year Award, Outstanding Achievement Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award to honour individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to the shipping and maritime industry throughout the region.

The Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards coincides with the close of the Middle East Money & Ships Conference which takes place from 4-5 November 2007 at Mina a'Salam, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.
