Arab Telsat Conference and Exhibition opens today in Oman

His Excellency Al Sayyid Abdulla Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Busaidy, Chairman of the State Audit Institution, will preside over the official inauguration to of the Arab Telsat 2007 Conference and Exhibition, which will be held at Golden Tulip Hotel and the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Muscat.

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by members of the diplomatic community, representatives of the Information Technology Authority (ITA) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), officials of the telecom operators in Oman, top executives of participating companies, and other industry professionals.

Jointly organized by Omanexpo and Trifoil Expo, Arab Telsat 2007 will showcase the latest products, technologies and solutions for the region's vibrant telecommunications and ICT industry. More than 30 companies have signed up for the event to present a wide range of technologies including microwave radio systems, advanced security solutions, fibre optic cables and accessories, solar equipment, networking systems and solutions, wireless applications and satellite communication services.

The exhibitors at Arab Telsat 2007 include all telecom operators and other major companies in Oman as well as leading companies many parts of the world including Germany, France, USA, New Zealand, Russia, Kazakhstan, Singapore, UK, and the UAE. The exhibition timings are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 28-29 and from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on October 30.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Arab Telsat 2007 will also feature an international conference that will discuss the latest developments that will shape the industry's future. The two-day conference, which is being spearheaded by the ITU Arab Center of Excellence, will focus on three major topics: Evolution to 4G Networks, Triple/Quad/Play (Convergence), and Wireless Security.

The conference timings are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 28 and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on October 29. The venue of the conference is the Golden Tulip Hotel, which is right next to the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

Arab Telsat 2007 is mainly supported by Omantel and Oman Mobile as diamond sponsors and by Nawras and Huawei Technologies as gold sponsors. It is also officially supported by the Geneva-based International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the Information Technology Authority (ITA), the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), and Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM). The event is also endorsed by the SAMENA Telecommunications Council, UK Trade and Investment, the Singapore Industrial Automation Association, Global VSAT Forum, and Wireless World Forum.

The event's co-sponsors, all of which will be showcasing their range of products and services at the Arab Telsat exhibition, are Aqsacom SAS, Assarain Telecommunications, GroupSat FZCO, Naizak Global Engineering Systems, the Russian Satellite Communications Company, Siemon, Telephony Telecommunication, and TELES Communication Systems.

Arab Telsat 2007 has garnered the support of many media organisations whose operations are directly focused on the developments in the telecom and ICT industry.
