Mubadala Development Company, a strategic investment and development vehicle established and wholly owned by the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the UAE Ice Hockey Association (UAEIHA) have signed an agreement whereby Mubadala will be the official and exclusive sponsor of the National Ice Hockey team during the Asian Ice Hockey Championship, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 24-28.
HE Dr Ahmed Al Mazrouei, President of the UAEIHA, thanked Mubadala for supporting the National Ice Hockey team in its debut during the Asian Championship. 'It is a testimony of Mubadala's commitment to encourage the national sporting teams. The sponsorship gives a great boost to the national team members and motivates them to enthusiastically defend the colors of their country and to shine at international competitions,' HE added.
'As an investment vehicle of the Abu Dhabi Government, Mubadala contributes directly to Abu Dhabi's economic diversity and growth', said Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, Mubadala's Chief Operating Officer. 'It is important for us also to contribute to the development of UAE communities. The deal with UAEIHA is part of our social commitment to support ambitious national youth who seek to achieve best results for the country'.
Al Mazrouei also praised the support given to the game by His Highness Sheikh Falah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Honorary President of the UAEIHA, for the recent directives issued to sign up four professional players to boost the team's success in the forthcoming competitions.
The UAE side has lined up 22 - strong troupe for the championship, including Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Juma Al Dhaheri, Omer Al Shamsi, Faisal Al Suwaidi, Mohammed Al Jashi, Suhail Al Mazrouei, Ali Al Mazroeui, Hayez Al Muhairbi, Mohammed Al Zaabi, Ali Al Haddad, Ibrahim Bu Dibs, Khalid Al Habsi, Rashid Al Dhaheri, Khalid Al Suwaidi and Ahmed Al Dhaheri.
Ali Al Suroor and Abdullah Al Dhaheri, two key players, will miss the event.
A total of nine countries will take part in the championship, including Kuwait, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, and the hosts Thailand.
