QIA deadline nears over Sainsbury

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA)is expected to double in size by 2010 with up to 40% of its investments in Asia, the rest in Europe and the US, according to research by Standard Chartered, and cited by Khaleej Times. The $60bn sovereign wealth fund backed by the Qatar government has been trying to close its deal with the UK supermarket chain, J Sainsbury plc and was given a deadline until Nov. 8.
