The charity walk, aimed at raising funds and awareness for the fight against Breast Cancer, saw members of the public from all walks of life unite to participate in the 3.6 kilometer Pink Walkathon.
Thousands of pink balloons were released to mark the start of the walk. A sea of men, women and children of all ages and ethnicities donning matching Safe & Sound t-shirts and caps and were joined by sponsors, BurJuman officials and Breast Cancer survivors on the empowering walk.
This year's Walkathon was sponsored by Barclay's, Damas, HP, Marina Exotic Home Interiors, Saks Fifth Avenue, and TECOM Investments.
'It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm from so many members of the community this morning' said Sabina Khandwani, head of PR and Marketing, BurJuman. 'The continued support is extremely encouraging and shows just how seriously people treat the campaign and continue to make it a year-long public education initiative centered on early Breast Cancer detection.'
The Dubai Drums motivated the walkers from the start with a lively and entertaining performance. This musical ensemble provided encouragement to the participants and added to the general merriment of the walk.
Upon completion of the walk, participants enjoyed a fabulous Jazz Breakfast at BurJuman while being entertained by live jazz musicians. Fun and games were provided for all the family including 'pink' face painters, balloon benders, and a free group drumming session courtesy of Dubai Drums.
All proceeds from this year's Pink Walkathon will go towards raising awareness for breast cancer and patient care. Fund usage will be monitored by Red Crescent and Safe & Sound Steering Committee.
