RAK Free Trade Zone briefs various Turkish free zones to best practices

A delegation consisting heads of various Turkish free zones visited the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ), and were briefed on the zone's strategies, infrastructure, functions, and set up.

The official visit was organized by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Trade, and the World Economic Processing Zone Association (WEPZA).

Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the RAK FTZ Chairman, Oussama El Omari, the zone's Chief Executive Officer, and Maryam Al Murshidi Al Shehhi, the zone's Assistant Director received the Turkish delegation.

The visit aimed to be introduced to the RAK FTZ best practices and the strategies, which enabled the zone to provide its clients with total solutions for all types of businesses and paved the way for the RAK FTZ to gain a worldwide reputation for being a leading free trade zone.

The visiting delegation was also introduced to the state-of-the-art facilities and world-class services of the seven year old RAK FTZ which has gone from strength to strength and achieved phenomenal growth and occupied a noticeable position on the international map of free zones.

Sheikh Faisal highlighted the importance of such visits which create cooperation and enhance economic ties between RAK FTZ and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Turkish free zones and said that this visit will be followed by a series of visits to continue this cooperation.

Oussama El Omari, the zone's Chief Executive Officer, who is also the Secretary General of the WEPZA said:

"Establishing partnerships and joint-ventures between the RAK FTZ and the Turkish free zones were discussed and it was agreed that the two parties would be ideal partners, especially with Turkey's wide range of industries & its industrial infrastructure and RAK FTZ's reputation as a logistics hub in the region."


A number of the RAK FTZ Turkish clients attended the meeting who shared their experience in setting-up in RAK FTZ to expand their operations in the region; one of them was 'Knauf' Company who joined recently the RAK FTZ client family.
