ITA supports ArabTelsat 2007

ITA supports the first ArabTelsat 2007 Conference and Exhibition that is being held in Oman for the first time ever, between the 28th -30th of October 2007.
ArabTelsat 2007 will be formally inaugurated by H.E. Al Sayyid Abdulla Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Busaidy, Chairman - State Audit Institution at 9am on the 28th October 2007 at the Golden Tulip Hotel Ballroom.
Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi will be delivering his keynote address at the opening ceremony. This will be followed by the formal inauguration of the exhibition at the Oman International Exhibition Center. ITA will hold an exhibition in this event addressing focused group of audience updating them with the aim and progress of eOman championed by the ITA.
ArabTelsat 2007 conference will run for three days with three focused track sessions: Triple/Quad play Convergence, Wireless Security and Evolution to 4G Networks. Various international and national experts will be addressing the audience on telecom issues and latest technologies.
Speaking on ITA's involvement with this event Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of the Information Technology Authority of Oman stressed on ITA's commitment to support ICT oriented activities in Oman and he specifically lauded the timely organisation for a telecommunication conference focused on the region. He will be briefing on the effort of ITA to take the public sector service delivery to the next level with the e-government infrastructure projects that are currently being executed in his keynote address. 'ITA's participation in this event reinforces our efforts in connecting with the community to launch national IT infrastructure projects such as the Convergent Government Network and the Disaster Recovery Center and create awareness of the other eOman initiatives,' he added.
As part of ITA's allegiance to the ArabTelsat conference alongside the exhibition, on the first day of the 'Evolution to 4G Networks' theme Mr. Talal Al Rahbi, Marketing Manager of ITA will present his speech on eOman initiatives and the role of ITA.
On the second day o the conference under the 'Wireless Security' track, Engineer Ammar Talhouni of ITA will talk about the National Disaster Recovery center. On the same day under the 'Evolution to 4G Networks' track Sangeetha Sridhar, Business Content Consultant of ITA will be presenting her study on the role of infrastructure for e-government and international metrics of ICT.
The organisation of the ArabTelsat conference in Muscat highlights the role of the telecommunication sector in the creation of its knowledge economy. ITA's participation in this conference assures its support for building the required ICT infrastructure of the world-class standard for the entire country.
The efforts to build the required ICT infrastructure are vital for bridging the digital divide and enabling effective and economical delivery of services by both the government and the business sector of the Sultanate.
