  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, October 25 - 2007 at 12:53
  • PRESS RELEASE

The Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB) operating under the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is participating in 46th ICCA Congress & Exhibition in Pattaya, Thailand, from October 27 to 31, 2007.

DCB will be represented in the ICCA Congress & Exhibition by Awadh S. Al Ketbi, Executive Director, Convention and Heritage, Sultan Al Falasi, Executive, Sales and Marketing and Natasha Tomé-Zwarts, Head of Marketing and Communications, DCB.

The ICCA Congress & Exhibition 2007 will be making use of the new generation Spotme wireless handheld device during the event. This device has a color display and more enhanced capabilities. The Spotme device accelerates networking, gathers valuable data, and manages participants at meetings and conferences.

DCB will be sponsoring Spotme for one day on October 29, 2007, and will also be holding a raffle draw for participants who will be answering questions about Dubai and the winner will hosted in Dubai. The idea behind the raffle is to get people to know more about Dubai. In addition, DCB will be participating in a silent auction while the Bureau has also submitted a bid to bring the 50th ICCA Congress in 2011 to Dubai.

Participation at this year's ICCA, which provides networking and business exchange opportunities and is always a big draw to senior meetings industry directors, is expected to reach over 850 and break the all-time record of 820 attendee set by the 2006 Congress in Rhodes, Greece, which itself attracted 25% more delegates than ever before.

The highest ever registration level for a Congress held outside Europe was the 2004 Congress in Cape Town, when 652 attended.

A wide spread of experienced speakers from within the ICCA membership are supplemented with top international clients, including Susan Goldstein from World Youth Student Travel Conference, Anna Frick from pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, and Ulrike von Lonski from World Petroleum Council. Professional speakers are led by branding guru Martin Lindstrom who will deliver the keynote Copenhagen Lecture, and include Bob Gray's unique session on how to dramatically improve your business memory skills, back by popular demand from 2006.
