The show, which is being described as 'the best ever', saw visitor attendance increase substantially when compared to last year's exhibition
Featuring camel and horse auctions, saluki shows, art competitions, and traditional hunting activities, Adihex 2007 was one of the largest exhibitions to be staged at Adnec since it opened in February.
Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Member of the Organising Committee of the International Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition - Abu Dhabi 2007 said: 'This edition of Adihex witnessed unparalleled success; it was a truly great event and one which perfectly captured the deep-rooted traditions, culture and heritage of the UAE. We were particularly pleased that we attracted a large number of expatriate visitors to the exhibition this year, which was one of our key objectives. We have already begun to plan next year's show which we anticipate will be even bigger and better than this one and with more attractions for our growing visitor base.'
His Excellency Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie, Managing Director, Adnec, said, 'This was the first time that we have hosted Adihex in our new venue. It was also the first time that it has been organised by Emirates Falconer's Club in association with Turret Middle East and the support of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage. I think the combination of the perfect venue, superb organisation and an excellent understanding of what visitors wanted helped to create a truly magnificent show.'
Special features for this year's event included an auction ring where live camel and Arabian horse auctions were held. There was also a cultural heritage area where traditional handicrafts were displayed and demonstrated.
Adnec provided the ideal setting for this Adihex, as the enormous public Concourse and Atrium areas of the exhibition centre were transformed into innovate and stimulating areas for visitors.
Work on Phase Two of Adnec is well underway, with the Dhs580m ($158m) project scheduled for completion in October 2008. Completion of the second phase will see the venue double in size to become the Middle East's largest purpose-built exhibition centre.
