'Nokia Siemens Networks is committed to bringing the benefits of connectivity to people around the Middle East and Africa region,' said Walid Moneimne, Chairman for Middle East and Africa region. 'We see a tremendous opportunity to partner with our customers and use the power of telecommunications to support regional economic growth.'

At the conference, Nokia Siemens Networks addresses strategies for a smooth transition towards a 3G future in North Africa and showcase its end-to-end capability to answer operators' concerns when it comes to introducing broadband services and applications. The company operates with six Business Units - Radio Access, Broadband Access, Service core and Applications, IP/Transport, Operations/Business Software and Services - providing a full range of solutions and applications for fixed, mobile and converged networks.

Visitors to the Nokia Siemens Networks stand at the exhibition can witness state-of-the-art demonstrations of the company's latest solutions, including the integration and combination of technologies such as the High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) - a natural complement to 3G, providing faster data transfer speeds and capacity.

Other technologies include 3G Femto Home Access, which allows operators to seamlessly deliver compelling 3G multimedia services such as music downloads and video in the home on WCDMA 3G devices, with unrivalled quality of service, network security and manageability.

Moreover, Nokia Siemens Networks will cater to operators' needs by showcasing its cost-effective mobile backhauling solution. This product enables operators to minimize their transport costs while at the same time increasing network capacity to cope with rising demand from subscribers.

'With the creation of Nokia Siemens Networks, we have the opportunity to build the right company to meet the needs of our customers today and well into the future,'

commented Khalid Rabie, Country Director for Egypt, Nokia Siemens Networks. 'We start from a strong position, with most of the top 100 operators as our customers and a passion to help them address the challenges of a changing industry.'

'With a robust workforce of 4000 employees 'out of which 3,000 services professionals' across 44 countries in MEA, Nokia Siemens Networks is driven by the desire to connect the world. The company will have an unparalleled capability to deliver 'end-to-end' convergent solutions based on a broad portfolio of fixed and mobile infrastructure products, services and devices,' added Moneimne.

Nokia Siemens Networks also hosted an industry Seminar about Operational Efficiency one day before the GSM 3G North Africa conference and exhibition. The region's top operators including Etisalat, Orascom, Wataniya, Vodafone and Mobinil were present as well as stakeholders in the communications industry.

The two day conference will include discussions with top providers and analysts as well as workshops and panels, offering a complete look at GSM's direction in the region.

Nokia Siemens Networks will be present at stand 50 and 51 in the exhibition hall at the JW Marriott Hotel in Cairo.
