First International Pearl Convention to feature world class faculty

As a prelude to the impending First Pearl Convention, a formal program for the technical sessions and the summit to be held at the four day event was released.
"Pearl revival committee is dedicated to delivering the industry a common platform to interact, share experiences and establish meaningful linkages. The global trends estimate encouraging growth of the industry. This initiative is designed to propel the industry even more," said Khaled Al Sayegh, chairman of the Pearl Revival Committee which oversees all the aspects of the event and subsequent initiatives for this ambitious revival movement.
Leading names associated with the pearl trade will take the attendees through sessions from pearl formation to certification at the day long technical seminar, while the sessions at the summit next day will be have the participant share insights about aspects related to marketing, trends in jewelry designs and the national pearl industry of the pearling countries. The seminar and summit will be held on the 19th and 20th of November respectively.
"Pearls are fast gaining recognition as an asset. Numerous myths surround the gem and people are getting truly interested in learning about the differentiating factors. The faculty has been invited to take anyone associated or interested with the industry, through process involved right from pearl formation to the marketing of the finished products," said Abdalla Abdelqadir Al Muaini, head of Dubai Gemstone Lab Dubai Central Laboratory and officer on special duty, IPC and chairman of the organising committee for seminars and summit.
Speakers at the two day long technical sessions include Dr. Gaitone Cavalieri has now served as president of CIBJO for more than five years, Kenneth Scarratt Director of research for GIA Research Thailand and has 30 years of experience as a laboratory gemologist, Elisabeth Strack, from Gemmologisches Institut Hamburg, Germany, Stephen J. Kennedy Gemologist of the Gem Testing Laboratory of Great Britain. Nicholas Sturman gemological advisor of the Gem & Pearl Testing Laboratory, Manama, Bahrain, with experience more than 15 years in pearl testing, Shigeru Akamatsu General Manager, Sales Promotion Department, Mikimoto and Sutas Singbamorong Gem specialist Dubai central laboratory with experience more than 10 years in gemology had a lot of researches in gemstone and pearl.
