The program was a one-year intensive distance study program and Al Shawi was sent to the UK for seminars and final examinations.

Another national sponsored by ENOC for recent rigorous training was Eng. Alia M. Busamra, Group Environment Compliance Officer. Busamra was recently awarded an international diploma in Environmental Management (IDipEM) from the British Safety Council.

Pleased with these advancements, Hussain Sultan, ENOC Group Chief Executive, said, 'As an employer of choice, ENOC is committed to equipping its employees with the necessary skills to further climb up the corporate ladder. ENOC has always been a pioneer in the development of nationals in the UAE, currently having 20 percent of Emiratis as its workforce.'

'We are proud to play a crucial role in the vision of H.H Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in creating strong growth opportunities for nationals in the workplace', he added.

ENOC believes in cultivating employees using competency-based development frameworks for enhancing efficiency and safety in its operations. Equipping their national employees not only with technical and managerial skills, ENOC also ensures that they acquire the ability to train and develop other nationals in the future.

Even furthering the Emiratisation cause in the UAE, ENOC comes out on top as a gender equal company, with national women accounting for 30 percent of its female staff.

Both Ahmed Al Shawi and Eng. Alia Busamra are team members of the ENOC Group Environment Health and Safety Compliance department, which also has five other national team members currently enrolled in various competency development programs.
