The Chamber also introduces Dubai Municipality representatives to the aspects of DTP which has recently won one of Dubai Government Excellence Program Awards 2006 for the Distinguished Management Initiative Category.

The workshop started with a presentation on DTP through which Dubai Chamber seeks to provide its members and the business community with the best services that help them improve their businesses up to international standards.

The establishment of DTP at Dubai Chamber aimed at assisting the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Dubai to discover new business opportunities through international trade in order to enhance their contacts with the local, regional and international business communities.

Despite its relative short span, the DTP succeeded in attracting more than 150 members so far. The DTP helped its members to learn and benefit from thousands of investment opportunities around the world, and facilitated international trade related matters through its developing website and the other supporting services such as organizing specialized workshops that discuss various issues of global trade and the availability of its related opportunities.

The DTP is a member of the World Trade Point Federation (WTPF) which includes 142 trade points in 92 countries. DTP is not just a website, but rather a developing center that works on facilitating international trade and providing its members with lots of local and international investment opportunities.

The DTP enables its members to post and receive business opportunities. The point also helps to enhance enterprises' competitiveness through obtaining authentic and trustful information about international trade, promote their products in global markets and encourage SMEs to export.

The DTP helps placing Dubai on the world economic map, reducing time and cost of carrying out global trade transactions and strengthening Dubai economic relations with other international organizations and the country members of the WTPF. The DTP largely contributes to the support of national SMEs, stimulates competitive advantages and attracts foreign investments to Dubai.

During the workshop, JP Morgan Bank highlighted the importance of logistics services in supporting international trade in Dubai. The bank stressed the significance of the country developing their logistics services and constantly developing their necessary infrastructure. The bank underlined the key role played by the banking sector in minimizing the risks of international commercial transactions through providing different sorts of guarantees.
