The development drilling program, which commenced in February, 2004, is a major achievement for all the parties involved as the program has been completed ahead of schedule, under budget and most importantly with only one lost-time incident in more than eight rig-years of operation.

On reaching this milestone, Jim Adams, Chief Operating Officer of Qatargas 2 said;

"The safe completion of the drilling program is an achievement for all involved and a testament to the hard team work by people from RasGas Company Limited, Qatargas 2 and the drilling rig companies Ensco and Noble and other service contractors."

Highlights from the drilling campaign include the use of "best in class" technologies, such as the Fast Drill Process from one of Qatargas 2's shareholders - ExxonMobil Qatargas II Limited- which resulted in the fastest well ever drilled in the North Field to a depth of 14,500 feet in 33 days. All thirty wells on the three wellhead platforms have been completed a full 27 rig-months ahead of schedule.

The three platforms will supply gas to the two 7.8 mtpa LNG processing super-trains currently under construction at Ras Laffan Industrial City for the Qatargas 2 expansion project.

The shareholders in Qatargas 2 are Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil Qatargas (II) Limited and Total E&P Qatargas II Holdings LTD.
