'Tenbak' won the Muhr Award for Best Script at the Dubai International Film Festival 2006. The award's attractive cash prize contributed to the successful production of the film in the UAE, with the support of local financier Sultan Investments. 'Tenbak' has been submitted for screening at DIFF's fourth edition, which will be held in association with Dubai Studio City from December 9-16, 2007.

DSC's initiative is in line with its mission to encourage UAE national film makers and provide them with an opportunity to highlight their work, while contributing to the development of a professional home grown cinema industry.

Jamal Al Sharif, Director, Dubai Studio City, said: "The UAE has several talented film makers who need support to showcase their work. As the region's emerging film production hub, Dubai Studio City is committed to developing the UAE's broadcast and film production industry, as well as empowering deserving regional film makers."

Dubai Studio City offers a comprehensive technical and community infrastructure, catering to all segments of the film and broadcast value chain to support the indigenous and international film making community.

"For talented national filmmakers, DSC provides an unprecedented opportunity to network with their regional and global peers, to further enhance their experience and industry specific knowledge," added Al Sharif.

Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, film scriptwriter, producer and member of Faradees Group said Dubai Studio City's film industry initiatives are commendable and welcomed by national film makers.

"These efforts will provide a momentum for the film industry's growth not just in the UAE but across the Gulf region. We also acknowledge the support extended by Sultan Investments that marks a significant step in the coming together of the creative and corporate forces in the country," he added.

As a part of its strategy to offer UAE filmmakers an opportunity to present their work to a niche audience, Dubai Studio City hosted a one-day screening of films produced by Faradees last year. Dubai Studio City also sponsored the Short Film Festival 2007 organized for the first time by Dubai Women's College (DWC) under the theme - 'The Young Emirati Cinema' earlier this year.

Dubai Studio City plays a pioneering role in supporting events related to the film and broadcast segments in the UAE and the region. Its association with the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) seeks to foster film production in the UAE, and lay the ground for global studios to establish base in the pan Arab region.
