As a knowledge partner, IDC will work closely with other partners and the event organizer, Injazat Data Systems, to help set the direction of the forum and ensure participants get the most from the proceedings. IDC's Senior Analyst Margaret Adam will provide essential context to the event, giving an overview of the UAE's IT services market and analyzing the primary trends affecting the managed services and outsourcing segments.
"As networks become increasingly complex, many businesses are recognizing the benefit of outsourcing some or all of their network functions to service providers," says Ms. Adam. "Before taking steps, it is important to know where the markets are headed and which types of services other organizations will be adopting, as this affects their competitive advantage and signals the types of services that will carry firms forward."
According to IDC, in 2006 the UAE's IT services market expanded 22.7% year-on-year to pass the $507m mark. While support and installation services constituted the largest area of spending in 2006, spending on outsourcing is expected to more than double by 2011.
"One reason we are working with ADTEK 2007 is because we believe a robust and dynamic IT services industry benefits the entire region," says Jyoti Lalchandani, Vice President and Regional Managing Director, IDC MEA. "Our research tells us that IT services are becoming essential in helping organizations create new business methods and models that in turn create market opportunities and nurture potential high-growth areas."
