Qanat Al Qasba awards media and sponsors of Ramadaniat Al Qasba

Qanat Al Qasba, Sharjah's premier leisure and cultural hub held a gala awards ceremony Tuesday evening to honour the media and sponsors of Ramadaniat Al Qasba 2007.

The event that began at 8pm next to the Shababeek Restaurant in the QAQ premises and was attended by Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Marwan Al Sarkal, CEO of the Qanat Al Qasba Development Authority, sponsors, media and other dignitaries.

Said Al Sarkal, "Our third year of Ramadaniat Al Qasba has been yet another resounding success, and we have our sponsors of various events and the media to thank for their support. Our accomplishments, events and the success of various activities held at Qanat Al Qasba wouldn't have been possible without the trust and support of our sponsors and partners, and government departments who have stood by us at all times. I take this opportunity to thank them all for their co-operation, which I'm sure will help in making future Ramadaniat Al Qasba's a success.

"I would also like to thank the media for the great support extended towards us through the years and their wide coverage of Ramadainat Al Qasba 2007 that contributed towards its great success. In today's world the media plays a powerful role in conveying information across communities and nations. We therefore want to honour and appreciate the efforts of individual journalists and their organizations in the UAE for their dedication and unflinching hard work in putting Qanat Al Qasba in the spotlight."

Added Al Sarkal, "The results of Ramadaniat Al Qasba 2007, have once again been gratifying, with an average of 3,500 visitors walking the premises daily, and more than 40,000 visitors joining us for our grand Eid celebrations which ran for four days, and more than 5,000 visitors taking a ride on the Eye of the Emirates during the Eid celebrations."

Some of the crowd pullers to the Ramadaniat this year included the Fawanees Al Qasba Tent, Al Qasba Volleyball Tournament, Al Eman Oasis, a host of art exhibitions, Zaman Awal, the heritage area, Fawazeer Al Qasba, Fun Zone and the mega four day Eid Celebrations.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi honoured the sponsors, media and the popular Fawazeer Al Qasba Riddle winners by presenting them with trophies and certificates.

The ceremony included entrainment performance of folk dances from Egypt among other cultural activities.
