300 taxis for Abu Dhabi

300 new silver taxis will today, Sunday, begin operating in Abu Dhabi with a further 800 due to be rolled out across the emirate by the end of the year; minimum fares have been increased to Dhs2.6. It is hoped that by the end of next year the new fleet will total around 7,000 taxis. The Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars has also been re-branded as Trans AD.
