  • PRESS RELEASE

Immediately following Sheikh Mohammed's announcement that all new buildings in Dubai must be designed in accordance with 'green building' principles, Trane, the world's leading provider of indoor comfort systems, hosted a technical seminar focusing on the critical contribution that air-conditioning plays in our lives, our workplaces and the environment.

The seminar was held on the 31st October at the Le Meridien Hotel and its goal was to provide attendees with a practical summary of the significant role that airconditioning and ventilation systems play in delivering comfortable, productive indoor environments that comply with the Green Building and LEED concepts.

Guest speaker, Mr. Mario Seneviratne, Founder & Secretary to the board of the Green Building Council, and Chairman of Green Technologies, provided an in-depth review of the green building movement in the UAE and cited Trane's significant contribution in a number of energy efficient projects. Don Eppelheimer (Senior Application Engineer of Trane U.S.A) provided a fascinating technical insight into the substantial contribution that Trane's EarthWise™ systems make towards reducing energy consumption.

In addition Mr. Sai Srikanth, Trane Controls Leader for the U.A.E & Gulf, highlighted the central role that integrated control systems play in optimizing the individual components in to a high performing system. Making the important point that a Green Building doesn't stop on completion of design and construction, Peter Blanchflower (Marketing Director of Trane Middle East, African & India region) explained that the LEED (Existing Building) guidelines extends to the life of the facility.

During the event, which was attended by almost 200 industry experts, Mr. Mario Seneviratne was presented with a crystal model of a Trane CenTraVac chiller for his services to the Green Building movement. The choice of gift was very appropriate as the subject chiller had recently received the Best of the Best award from the respected U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

"Energy Efficiency and Indoor Air Quality of HVAC systems contribute significantly to certified Green buildings," said Michel Farah, director of Trane Commercial Systems in the UAE and Gulf. "That's why it's critical for businesses like Trane to support the Green Building initiative."

Trane has provided heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems to customers in the Middle East, Africa and India for nearly 50 years; enhancing their indoor and outdoor environments through improved indoor air quality, dehumidification, moisture control, acoustics and energy efficient performance.
