Singapore ICA Minister visits Oman

The delegation comprises of both official and business delegates.

During the three days visit, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between ITA and the Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) at the Ministry of National Economy under the auspices of HE. Ahmed bin Abdul-Nabi Macki, Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council.

"The minister's official visit will further the relationship between the two countries and increase cooperation on projects to be implemented by both the public and private sectors which will further accelerate the development and adoption of ICT in Oman" said HE Mohammed Nasser Al Khasibi, Chairman of ITA.

The scope of collaboration through the MoU is to promote exchange information and experience on ICT matters; recommend companies based in Oman and/or in Singapore to implement specific ICT projects in Oman and Singapore.

ITA is the autonomous authority for the implementation of the Digital Strategy of the Sultanate. The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) is a statutory board of the Singapore Government. It operates under the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA).

"Through this visit we hope to promote exchanges regarding the use of ICT by the government and private sectors which may further trade, investment, business and technology partnerships and collaboration between Oman and Singapore ICT industries" said Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA.

The Singaporean convoy will pay a diplomatic visit to meet His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers on the 6th November 2007. The official delegation comprising of emissary from the Ministry of Information, Communications and Arts (MICA) and the IDA will pay an official visit to HE. Maqbool bin Ali bin Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry on 5th December 2007.

On the 7th November the official delegation will meet with HE. Dr Khamis bin Mubarak al Alawi, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunication, HE Sayyid Bader Bin Hamed Albusaidi, Secretary General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and HE. Hamed bin Mohammed al Rashdi, Minister of Information.

On the 6th November Oman Singapore ICT Business Forum will be held at the Ballroom, Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort from 9am to 4pm. Attendance is restricted to special invitees from the public and private sectors of the Sultanate and the Singapore official and business delegation.
