- PRESS RELEASE
His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, issued a decree establishing the Dubai City of Aviation, comprising the Dubai Airports, Dubai World Central, and Dubai Air Traffic Navigation.
Created with the intention to further drive Dubai's aviation sector, the Dubai City of Aviation will ensure the implementation of world-class operating standards within its entities and units, while ensuring streamlined management. It will also promote transparency and efficiency in decision making, in addition to creating the right foundations to manage both Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport.
The law directs newly formed entities under the Dubai City of Aviation to conform to international conventions in civil aviation and meteorology services, as well as determining and monitoring international air routes within Dubai's air space.
H H Sheikh Mohammad's directive is linked to the Dubai Strategy Plan 2015, which aims to restructure Dubai's aviation sector to match its rapid growth and reinforce its status as a major player in the global aviation industry.
The Dubai City of Aviation Establishment (DCAE), formed in 2006 and headed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Group, will oversee the operations of the Dubai City of Aviation and other entities.
