He said all divisions of Dubai Municipality (DM) will soon be dealing with their clients electronically following the tremendous successes of the "E-Week" campaign which was launched on September 23, adding that about 38,000 transactions had been processed electronically in three divisions since the campaign started.

Commenting on the occasion of launching the Department of Planning and Area's "E-Week", which begins tomorrow, Eng. Lootah said: "The E- Week campaign launched by Dubai Municipality came to translate into action Dubai's development strategy which is technically based on rapid and easy processing of transactions. Dubai Municipality is a pace-setter in the provision of e-Services. It has achieved many good results since it went electronic in the provision of its various services and processing of its clients' transactions. The services Dubai Municipality provide are also perfect and accurate."

Eng. Lootah added: "Dubai Municipality remains committed to providing innovative and unique services for its clientele, particularly the big companies which need to process many transactions at the municipality. That was how the idea of the "E- Week' came into existence, but the aim is to encourage clients to process their transactions electronically from the comfort of their offices without the need for them to drive all the way to the municipality premises."

Also commenting on the occasion, the Director of the DM's Information Technology Division, Mr. Abdul Hakim Abdul Karim Malik, said: "The idea of launching the 'E- Week' was innovated by the Information Technology task force which operates within the municipality's strategy of developing its work to maintain its leading position in the areas of the services it provides."

He pointed out that the aim of the "E-Week" is to perfectly implement the e-Government programme. He added: "This week has been set aside for the Planning and Area Division following the tremendous successes of the subsequent technology weeks of the public health, environment and drainage divisions. Every division has been allocated one week during which processing of transactions related to that division would be handled electronically."

He noted that more than 1,250 transactions had been processed electronically during the Environment Division's E- Week, which spanned from September 23 to 27. The figure rose up astronomically to 11,887 transactions processed during the Public Health Division's Technology Week, held from October 7 to 11, while the Drainage Division's E- Week pulled out a record surprise with an unprecedented processing of more than 25,000 transactions electronically. The figure represents a sharp increase of 25%.over the average transactions of the previous weeks.

Dubai Municipality continues with its innovative "E-Week" campaign with the Building Division - Rehabilitation Section - taking its turn from November 18, followed by Building Division - Building Permit Section from December 9.

By launching this programme, the Dubai Municipality aims at improving the quality of its services and unifying its criteria and finding quick solutions to problems to win the heart and mind of its growing clientele.
