- PRESS RELEASE
A specialized three-day workshop on business journalism opened at the Dubai Press Club, to help media persons develop expertise in covering key global economic developments.
Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director of Dubai Press Club, said: "We aim to provide the right tools for media professionals and members of the press club to expand their knowledge and ensure informed reporting. Through focused workshops, we offer a platform for global experts to share updates on various trends in international media practices with members of the regional media.
"Our partnership with Dow Jones will provide journalists with deep insights into business reporting, especially while operating in a rapidly growing city such as Dubai."
The workshop introduces methods of analysing main economic indicators, including GDP; consumer prices; exports and imports; trade, current, and capital accounts; retail spending; industrial production; and borrowings. It will also examine the role of interest rates and the significance of market movements in any economy.
The workshop will help journalists find answers to current issues in the business world such as the reasons for companies going public, and the dynamics between corporate enterprises and markets such as equity, fixed income, foreign exchange, energy and commodity markets.
