MoU signed between IDA Singapore and ITA

A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between Information Technology Authority (ITA) and the Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) under the auspices of HE. Ahmed bin Abdul-Nabi Macki, Minister of National Economy and HE. Dr. LEE Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and Arts (MICA).
The MoU aims to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries and to promote exchange of information and experience on ICT matters; recommends companies based in Oman and/or in Singapore to implement specific ICT projects in Oman and Singapore.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA said "the signing of the MoU signifies the mutual interest between Oman and Singapore to collaborate on various aspects of ICT, specifically in the use of ICT in government and various economic sectors such as, but not limited to, education, finance, healthcare and tourism".
The scope of collaboration through the MoU aims to activate the relationship between the two countries to increase cooperation on projects to be implemented by both the public and private sectors which will further accelerate the development and adoption of ICT in Oman. It also includes undertaking of projects that promote exchanges regarding the use of ICT by the government and private sectors which may further trade, investment, business and technology partnerships and collaboration between Oman and Singapore ICT industries. This is a significant milestone for ITA in the acceleration of its projects to implement the national IT strategy.
"Singapore and Oman share similar goals in ICT developments and our commitment to incorporate ICT into every aspect of life. This will help spur socio-economic development and build competitive edge for both countries" said Mr. CHAN Yeng Kit, CEO, IDA.

Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) is a statutory board of the Singapore government. It operates under the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA). IDA was formed in December 1999 as a result of the merger between the Telecommunications Authority of Singapore and National Computer Board.
In its effort to develop, promote and regulate Singapore Infocomm industry, IDA is guided by iN2015, a 10year infocomm Master Plan to help Singapore realise the potential of infocomm over the next decade. IDA is committed to growing Singapore into a dynamic global infocomm hub and it uses an integrated approach to developing infocommunication in Singapore. This involves nurturing a competitive telecom market as well as a conducive business environment with programmes and schemes for both local and international companies.
In the Middleast, IDA aims to encourage and facilitate collaboration between Middleeastern and Singapore infocomm business in the areas of e-Government, infocomm, security, healthcare, education and financial services.
