Gargash Enterprises hosts 'Day for Her'

  • PRESS RELEASE

Gargash Enterprises, General Distributor for Mercedes-Benz in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, for the first time held a ladies-only event, at Dubai Ladies Club on Tuesday, 6th November 2007.

The so called 'Day for Her' was certainly a hit with the attendees, who all enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and educational aspect of the full day event.

The guest of honour was Marwa Al Eifa, a 25 year old Saudi Marketing Executive, who won first place in the first international women's rally car race in Dubai a few years ago and has since kept up her interest in car sports and racing. Marwa gave an interesting and insightful speech on her experiences being an Arab rally driver, and more importantly being a female in such a male-dominated sport. The only female mechanic in all Gargash workshops, Marina Habib Boustany, was present and demonstrated on a display car how to change a tire, change oil and put water in the car in the case of an over-heating radiator. She was also available to answer any technical questions and to give first-class advice on safety.

Marina was very excited to be taking part in a ladies event. "It really isn't very often that fellow females are interested in the mechanical side of vehicles as my past experience in the field has taught me. People are always surprised when they ask me what I do for a living and what my interests are. I am always happy to show that women are just as capable as men when it comes to car mechanics - where there's a will, there's a way," she stated.

Ladies interested in test driving a new top of the range Mercedes-Benz had a choice between CLK-class, CLS-class, E-class, M-class and SLK-class. Food was served in a shaded VIP lounge, and was tasty yet had a definite healthy twist to it, with gourmet canapés and fresh fruit juices on offer all day. Ladies also had the chance to enter a raffle and win fabulous prizes such as shopping vouchers and the star prize of a CLS for a weekend.

"I am very pleased with how successful this event was, and how the ladies enjoyed learning about the more technical aspects of cars. Mercedes-Benz's are known for their comfort and safety features, which does make them a popular choice with the ladies. We feel that the female target audience is often left behind when it comes to car-focused events, and wanted to give back to our female customers," stated Ewan Ramsay, General Manager of Gargash Enterprises.
