The award was received on his behalf by Mr. Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World UAE Region.
Mr. Bin Sulayem was selected for the Hall of Fame Award from among seven of his peers in the region. In addition, Dubai World flagship marine terminal company DP World was judged 'Best Innovator', 'Best Seaport' and 'Best Container Terminal', and Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) won the 'Best Logistics Park - Sea' Award. This is the second consecutive win for Jafza in this category. Jafza has also won the 'MELA 2006 Best Logistics Park - Sea' Award.
The MELA 2007 celebrates excellence in the Middle East logistics industry by recognizing individuals and enterprises in 24 different categories of Performance Excellence Awards.
Speaking about the awards won by Dubai World companies, Mr. Bin Sulayem said:
'I am extremely happy that two of Dubai World's flagship companies, DP World and Jafza, are seen as the best in their core areas of expertise. The overwhelming endorsement by the logistics industry in the region shows we have lived up to our promise of excellence, but, as importantly, also to the expectations of our customers. '
Mr. Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Executive Vice Chairman DP World and Group CEO Port and Free Zone World said:
'The recognition of our marine terminal operations and the free zone, as well as our Chairman, the driving force behind the success and growth of these ventures, reflects the respect of the region's logistics industry. Mr. Bin Sulayem's untiring efforts in developing DP World, Jafza, and their sister companies, and the endorsement of these efforts by the industry are certainly praiseworthy. No one deserves this more.'
Mrs. Salma Hareb, CEO Jafza and Economic Zones World said:
'We are proud to have won this award for the second time in a row. This recognition reflects all the hard work and effort put in by the entire Jafza team.'
Mr. Mohammed Sharaf, CEO of DP World said:

The winners of the MELA 2007 Awards were determined by a two-phase procedure - nominations and voting. The logistics community in 12 countries across the Middle East decided the winners of the awards through active participation in the nomination and voting process.
Around 800 guests from the logistics industry across the Middle East and Europe attended the Awards ceremony on Tuesday night, November 6.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai World, won on Tuesday night the Middle East Logistics Award 2007 Hall of Fame Award.
