Ras Laffan Industrial City bags prestigious award

Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC) added yet another golden feather to its cap when it bagged the Best Port Authority Award of the year during the 4th Annual Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards and Gala dinner held at the Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.

Among the prestigious finalists were DP (Dubai Port) World - UAE Region and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust who are pioneers in this field, and thus giving more weight to RLC's achievement and success.

Commenting on this achievement, Misnad Al Misnad, Director of RLC said,

"This is a great moment for Ras Laffan and this landmark would not have been realized without our talented and dedicated team. This is just the beginning and we are currently working towards establishing RLC as the world's energy capital."


Over 800 senior executives of the region's Maritime Industry attended this high level event.
The Seatrade Middle East & Indian Subcontinent Awards scheme is designed to celebrate and reward excellence and innovation in the maritime sector across the region over a period of 12 months.

The Port Authority award specific criteria were the Investment & Infrastructure development and Throughput & Cargo Volumes. RLC is considered as one of the world's largest Hydrocarbon Export Facilities that currently exports 31MTPA (Million Tons Per Annum) of LNG, and planning to export in the year 2012: 130MTPA of LNG, Condensate, Sulphur, LPG, GTL products, Refined products and Petrochemicals.

Qatar Gas Transport Co ltd. (NAKILAT) was among the top three nominees for the Transport/Logistics and Freight Award.
