Al Jarwan: Etisalat is a strategic partner to Benin's government in the development of telecommunication sector

His Excellency Dr. Boni Yayi, President of Benin and a delegation of government ministers concluded their visit to the UAE.

In the final day of his visit, H.E. Dr. Boni Yayi visited the Etisalat Academy which trains telecommunications engineers from across the Middle East and North Africa to the highest international standards. During his visit, Etisalat chairman, Mohammad Hassan Omran extended Etisalat's gratitude to H.E. Dr Boni and promised scholarships to ten delegates from Benin's government to attend training courses and conferences organized by the Etisalat Academy in the UAE.

During the President's visit, Jamal Al Jarwan, CEO International Investments, confirmed the strategic partnership that connects Etisalat and Benin's government in Benin's telecommunications sector, helping the country to achieve even higher standards in order to meet the needs of the market and to help catalyse the economy.

Jamal Al Jarwan, CEO International Investment, Etisalat, said: "The nation of Benin is central to our African expansion strategy. It is an important market with excellent growth prospects. We value the partnership of Benin government and are committed to working hand in hand to develop the full potential of the nation through deployment of a world class infrastructure and the provision of the highest levels of customer service."

Al Jarwan added: "Etisalat is working with Benin's government to grow the standards of the telecommunication services in the country in terms of technology and the development of the local talent pool. Today's announcement of promised scholarships to delegates from Benin's government reinforces Etisalat's commitment towards investing and enhancing the abilities of Benin citizens".

On Monday, the Benin delegation attended Etisalat's head office in Abu Dhabi where they received a presentation on Etisalat's international marketing strategy and its involvement in local communities.

Moov, Etisalat's subsidiary in Benin, today employs over 200 staff and is one of the country's largest private sector employers. It services a customer base of over 300,000 mobile subscribers offering invaluable connectivity and communications services.
