- PRESS RELEASE
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is finalising road improvement work on the Al Soufoh network with the first phase of the project - the bridge linking Al Barsha and Al Soufoh passing over Sheikh Zayed Road - having opened to traffic.
The Dhs208m project, launched May 2006, extends over 11 km and includes roads, a tunnel and double lane bridge linking Al Barsha with Al Soufoh in addition to traffic signals, roads lighting, protecting and diverting utility lines.
Engineer Maitha Bin Adai, CEO - Traffic and Roads Agency said the project is of vital importance in managing Dubai's road infrastructure. She said that the rapid pace of work reflects RTA's commitment to bringing full scale solutions to manage the traffic situation in Dubai. The road improvement project in Al Soufoh comes in line with this strategy and ensures smooth traffic flow.
She added that Salik is a key component of a general plan to manage Dubai's traffic situation and thus enhance the convenience of Dubai residents and visitors. Engineer Maitha also reiterated RTA's commitment to transparency in its operations.
RTA has installed direction signs to alternative roads for drivers who wish to divert form the Salik Toll Gates at Al Garhoud and Al Barsha on Sheikh Zayed Road.
