- PRESS RELEASE
Investcorp, the financial institution specializing in asset management and alternative investments, has announced it will sponsor the Third Annual Forum of Young Arab Leaders (YAL) which gets underway in the Kingdom of Bahrain next Friday under the patronage of HH Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Commander in Chief, Bahrain Defence Force.
Investcorp Managing Director Talal Al Zain commented: "the convening of the Forum of Young Arab Leaders in Bahrain this year provides an opportunity for Investcorp to strengthen its relations with the new generation of young Arab leaders from various countries in the Arab world. It is also an opportunity to be briefed by them on their latest practical and professional inclinations in various fields, especially in economy, business, and investments, the domains in which Investcorp is involved through the lines of business it manages".
"This organization has demonstrated, in the few years since its inception, its ability to provide points of convergence for initiatives that offer opportunities for the development and advancement of Arab youth," Al Zain added.
More than 200 leaders, representing diverse private, public and social sectors from 12 Arab countries, will showcase significant regional achievements and draw the blueprint for YAL's continuing success in 2008.
The YAL Forum will discuss this year a number of important issues facing the Arab world today and their direct and indirect impact on the future of economy and business in the region as a whole.
The first session is being dedicated under the title of "Climate from another perspective" to studying the serious environmental challenges facing the region such as scarcity of water, population growth, greenhouse gas emissions, and air pollution. There will be an in-depth discussion to draft recommendations and mechanisms YAl can adopt and implement for the sake of saving our Arab environment.
The numerous social events organized by the forum this year include a lunch banquet hosted by the Bahrain International Circuit. It will be interspersed by interesting activities during which the guests will have an opportunity to try out several types of exciting race cars on this international circuit.
The forum's events also include a session on best practices for young Arab leaders. This will provide an opportunity for participants to be acquainted with the achievements of YAL's various branches and for transparent discussions on the challenges and obstacles it is facing in order to work out appropriate solutions paving the way toward the desired change.
Dr. Ruediger Grube, Board Member of Daimler AG, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space
Company (EADS N.V.), will address a special session on the power of cross cultural dialogue amongst the youth.
Al Arabiya Channel - the official Arab Media sponsor for the YAL annual forum 2007 - will broadcast live the session titled "Hiwar Al Arab" worldwide. An elite group of speakers from several Arab countries will participate in this special program, titled "Inventiveness in the Arab World."
