- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, November 10 - 2007 at 17:54
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai World announced that it will sponsor the educational field tour programme of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) to Switzerland, as it is keen to fulfil its social commitments.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai World, said: "Sponsoring the study tour is a reflection of how Dubai World fulfils its social responsibility. Quest for knowledge is the first step in the long journey to achievements, and it is the duty of the business community to support this base."
"Hands-on knowledge about corporate functioning will help the students to be ready to take on such responsibilities that help nation-building," Mr. Bin Sulayem added.
The students will visit educational and business centers in Switzerland, including UBS AG, the country's biggest bank, UN headquarters in Geneva, Swiss watch manufacturer, LMD business school in Lausanne, Novartis and Roche Pharmacy companies, Swiss airline, chocolate factories and cheese dairy factories. The study tour will provide a great opportunity for the students to have first-hand knowledge of how these corporate majors function. This will be of immense help for the students' future career prospects.
The tour will also include extracurricular activities and participation in a city rally. A day of adventure in the Alps is also part of the itinerary.
Mohammed Al Bastaki, student coordinator for the program said: "Dubai World's financial support to the Swiss study tour is commendable. It is only such supports that make the exchange of knowledge possible. The students and Dubai Men's College are grateful to Dubai World."
