The two appointments come in the wake of the merger of APC-MGE and are aimed to further strengthen APC-MGE's role in the Middle East. In his new role as Operating Director, Bayle will be fully responsible for the management of the region, driving business responsibility to a country level, building and leading the country teams.

Bertrand will provide the strong functional support for the Middle East, ensuring that business is concluded effectively and efficiently. Christian, with the support of EMEA/LAM central functions, will also be responsible for appropriate investments in the region. Both managers will be based in Dubai and report to Leonid Mukhamedov, Vice President, CIS-Middle East & Africa.

The appointment of Bayle and Bertrand represents a sharpened focus by APC-MGE. The priorities in the region will focus on increasing customer satisfaction, maintaining long-term relationships with partners and key customers and establishing effective post sales support.

"APC-MGE recognises the potential in the region and is investing resources as it is a key zone in the EMEA set up. The two have been in the company for several years and bring the necessary international experience," Mukhamedov said.

Thierry Bayle has a long history with Schneider, he joined Merlin Gerin in 1991 and was responsible for distribution at Schneider till 1997. Prior to the merger, Thierry was appointed as Area General Manager for MGE in the Middle East.

Christian Bertrand held different sales roles at Merlin Gerin from 1990 to 1996. He held the position of Managing Director for MGE Philippines and then Australia. In 2003 he was appointed the Managing Director for MGE, Italy, where he played a critical role in growing the revenue by 60% in 3 years.

Philip Hughes, who previously headed the APC-MGE team in the region, left the company to set up his own business. "Hughes was instrumental in setting up APC's business in the Middle East and we wish him all the best in his future ventures." concluded Mukhamedov.
