According to Dubai Outlet Mall's Head of Marketing, Rhonda Fletcher, the mall has exceeded all expectations to emerge as one of the most popular tourist attractions within the city, in the brief period since its official launch earlier this year. "We had hoped to attract a percentage of international visitors to the mall, apart from local residents, and we are very happy at how popular it has proven to be. We are pleased that several hotels have planned to develop shopping tours around Dubai Outlet Mall, and we are ready to initiate other such programmes that will benefit international visitors to Dubai," she said.
Fletcher said her teams were actively engaged in liaising with international tour organisers and travel agencies, especially in the UK, to ensure that the Dubai Outlet Mall features prominently in their outbound packages. We are ready and willing to partner with any institution that promotes Dubai as a destination, and enable them to offer value-shopping as an essential component of an unforgettable holiday in our city, she stated.
Visitors from the UK already form a large part of Dubai's annual tourism footfall - over 600,000 Britons visited Dubai in 2006 - and the Dubai Outlet Mall says it will spare no efforts to ensure continuity and growth.
"We are committed to supporting our friends and colleagues in the tourism industry, especially from the key source market of the UK, and will be happy to work alongside them in creating new, unique and unusual shopping packages for their clients and customers,"
she promised.
Stores at the Dubai Outlet Mall are categorised by fashion (men, women, children unisex), shoes and footwear, lingerie and swim wear, accessories and jewellery, leather and travel goods, cosmetics and perfumes, electronics and home ware, sunglasses and watches, and sports wear and sporting goods, toys, and novelties. Some of the larger brands and designers on offer include Azarro, Adidas, Mango, Ted Lapidus, Pierre Cardin, Guy Laroche, Calvin Klein, Guess, Naturalizer, Nike, Puma, Villeroy and Boch and Espirit, among numerous others.
The mall also houses a Food Court plus several restaurants and cafes. A forthcoming attraction is the Middle East's first Chuck E Cheese's family entertainment outlet, with its food, games and rides, an ice skating rink, a bowling alley and other novelties. The mall is open through 7 days a week from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm.
Dubai Outlet Mall is a division of UAE-based Al Ahli Group, a multi-disciplined business house founded in the late 1960s, with interests in the construction, engineering, cement, plastic, printing, leisure and retail industries.
