Sungdong Park, CEO and President, Satrec Initiative, will join Ahmed Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of the EIAST, to discuss the final stages of the first phase of DubaiSat-1 during this year's edition of the Dubai AirShow on 11 to 15th November.

The South Korean producer of small satellite solutions is designing and manufacturing DubaiSat-1, a remote sensing satellite which will provide the UAE with a valuable source of info to support the country's numerous development plans. The company is also hosting a team of young national engineers who are participating in the different stages of the development of the satellite.

"EIAST was established to promote advanced scientific research in Dubai and the UAE and create expert human resources with internationally competitive skills. In addition to strengthening the country's international collaborative links and establish joint projects with industry and research organisations worldwide. Our cooperation with Satrec Initiative is an essential element for the success of DubaiSat-1 project both in terms of manufacturing the satellite and training the national EIAST team. We are confident that working closely with the international experts at SatrecI will significantly enhance the team's skills and abilities", said Ahmed Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General, EIAST.

Sungdong Park, CEO and President, Satrec Initiative, commented: "Satrec Initiative provides technical consulting and engineering support as well as the most effective and integrated solutions for earth observation missions and applications. Our highly-experienced engineers and scientists selected the young Emirati engineers based on global high standards of education and knowledge. The team demonstrated exemplary discipline and passion to learn about the various elements of the design and manufacturing of the small satellites. And we have no doubt that they have each acquired many skills in the process".

DubaiSat-1 will be launched on a Dnepr rocket through Moscow-based launching company, International Space Company (ISC) Kosmotras which has a long history of successful and accurate positioning operations of similar types of satellites in their orbits using state-of-the-art technologies.

The satellite will then capture images of the face of the earth and transmit them to the ground station that is currently being built in Dubai by ViaSat, a US-based producer of innovative satellite and other wireless communication products including satellite networks and antenna systems to enable fast, secure, and efficient communications to any location.

Salem Al Marri, Acting Project Manager, DubaiSat-1 said: "To ensure the long-term success of DubaiSat-1, EIAST has developed a national team including some of the country's most brilliant scientific minds. Our engineers are working under the supervision of the internationally reputed space technology experts at Satrec Initiative by participating in the design and manufacturing of the satellite. We hope to gain the maximum experience from one of the industry's leading professionals as we set up the basis for a knowledge-based society here in the UAE".

The satellite will support the decision makers particularly in areas of infrastructural development, long-term urban planning, management of natural disasters, and scientific and space research and development.
