Young Arab Leaders and Showtime Arabia unveil new training opportunity

Young Arab Leaders (YAL), a dynamic group of more than 500 successful young Arab men and women whose vision is to trigger a positive change in the world around them, and Showtime Arabia, the leading pay-TV network in the Middle East and North Africa announced the launch of the 'Showtime Internship program'.

The regional program, which is provided by Showtime Arabia for YAL organization, gives Arab youth the opportunity to gain experience in the media industry specificity in areas of Programming, Marketing, Business Development and Sports Programming.

The Arab interns, who are university undergraduates studying a relevant subject, or university graduates with a relevant degree and/or up to two years relevant experience will be selected to participate and gain from this valuable summer program."

Saeed Al Muntafiq, Chairman of the Board of YAL and Executive Chairman of Tatweer said, "Passion, creativity and innovation are some of the characteristics that ensure that a person is successful and reaches the top of the ladder in his or her chosen career. YAL and Showtime Arabia aim to instill these traits in the interns. We also hope to inculcate in them the leadership qualities that are required in the workplace around the globe."

The added fringe benefits for the interns are many and include attending a management training programs, developed by YAL and Showtime Arabia acknowledged to provide a solid foundation for future careers.

"With over 370 channels and three pay-TV networks, the regional media industry has witnessed an unprecedented growth in the last decade. Showtime Arabia is committed to train, employ, and develop young Arabs who hold the passion we have for our customers and the media field," said Marc-Antoine d'Halluin, President and CEO - Showtime.

"Showtime internship, which is part of an ongoing strategic alliance with YAL, gives the selected young Arabs the opportunity to be trained in an international media environment and to take an actual step in voicing their opinion via the Showtime channels."

In order to achieve the internship goals the YAL and Showtime Arabia have arrange for participants to attend a 3-day "Management Capabilities Workshop" to cover topics like Recruitment and Retention, Performance Management, Coaching, Decision Making and Communication Skills.

The interns will be individually assigned a mentor from Showtime Senior Management Team. A specific role will also be assigned to each intern but only after the job purpose has been discussed and established and he or she agrees to it. The mentor will educate and instruct the intern in various fields related to the job selected. The mentoring process will include Agreeing assignment goals and objectives; Regular development and learning reviews; Coaching and guidance; Career counseling.
