Etisalat Academy & Sharjah Police inaugurate MEITSEC 2007 activities

The 5th Middle East IT Security Conference (MEITSEC 2007) which is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, was launched by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

The conference has been organized by the Etisalat Academy and the Sharjah Police and was held at the American University of Sharjah.

The conference focuses on Law Enforcement's role in fighting cyber terrorism and is held from 12th - 13th of November and training and workshops continuing on the 14th and 15th of November. The event was attended by Saleh Al Mutawa, General Manager of Sharjah Police, Ali Al Sharid, CEO, Etisalat Services Holding, Mohamed Nasir Al Ghanim, Director General, TRA, Dr. Doaa Fares, General Manager Etisalat Academy, and many other senior representatives from companies across the Gulf and Middle East.

MEITSEC is widely regarded as one of the region's most prestigious information security events. The conference sheds light on the ever-changing data security landscape. It is important for organizations involved in the design, development and deployment of information security solutions, for legislative and law enforcement institutions, finance and insurance establishments, and all security-conscious organizations.

Ali Al Sharid highlighted the importance of MEITSEC 2007 and said: "This conference is very important and beneficial especially in this day and time as IT has become part of most people's daily lives and in most businesses, impacting individuals significantly. This emphasizes the importance of taking measures to secure your IT infrastructure."

The conference brought together Information Security CEOs, Directors of IT, network security and business continuity managers, security analysts, and many other respectable telecom professionals. MEITSEC also included discussions on identity theft, hacking, e-forensics, secure online services, perimeter defense, digital espionage, encryption, cyber crime and many other information security-related topics.
