Emaar Properties wins ISO 14001:2004 certification for environmental management processes

Emaar Properties has won the ISO 14001:2004 certification for its environmental management processes, making the company the first property developer in the region to win ISO accreditations for adherence to both quality and environmental standards.

Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, UAE Managing Director, Emaar Properties, received the ISO 14001:2004 certification from Mr R.S. Mani of Lloyd's Register for Quality Assurance (LRQA), the international certification body that benchmarks the effectiveness of the environmental management approach, systems and practices of companies against standards set by the International Organizations for Standardization Technical Committee 2007.

With the award of the ISO 14001:2004 certification, Emaar has also underscored its commitment to the Green Buildings initiative of the Dubai government to create energy-efficient residential and commercial buildings that support sustainable development.

Mr R.S. Mani of Lloyd's Register for Quality Assurance (LRQA), said: "Emaar's approach to environmental management conforms to stringent ISO 14001:2004 international standard. Environmentally sound processes and systems that ensure sustainable development are the need of the hour, and Emaar's track record can serve as a model for developers in the region."
