The Airport Security of the Year Award was bestowed on ADIA as part of the inaugural Aviation Business Awards, at a special ceremony held at Park Hayatt Hotel, Dubai, on Monday November 12th.

Harib Bin Ghannam Al Hameli, ADAC Director of Aviation Security, received the award from Diarmuid O'Malley, Publishing Director of ITP Business Publishing.

According to the oragnisers, ITP Business Publishing Ltd, the Airport Security of the Year Award is bestowed upon the airport security provider that has consistently delivered world-class service across the region in the past 12 months. The criteria for selection include evidence of exceptional performance, with examples of market-leading innovation, efficient and well-communicated regulations, ability to meet international security standards and the implementation of cutting-edge technology, such as x-ray systems, metal detectors and baggage scanners.

This award comes shortly after ADIA has won international recognition as provider of world-class security services. ADIA was the first UAE airport that has passed the security audit programme administered by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), as part of an overall security audit of civil aviation facilities in the UAE.

H.E. Khalifa Al Mazrouei, Chairman and Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) said: "As airport operator, ADAC naturally attaches paramount attention to safety and security. Yet, equal attention is being given to ensuring that this high emphasis on security will not have unfavorable impact on the standards of services to our valued customers.

"Being aware that security is a continuous challenge, ADAC is working hard, with the invaluable collaboration of all our stakeholders, to further strengthen the security of our airports through the introduction of physical security measures, raising the competency level of security staff, and enhancing security awareness among all airport staff."

Al Mazrouei paid tribute to all ADAC concerned departments as well as to all the security organizations, particularly Abu Dhabi Police and all other stakeholders. "The credit for this recognition naturally goes to all those men and women who have been selflessly working to maintain the highest level of safety and security for the Airport," he said.
