The DTCM Executive Director Human Resources and Training Solutions, Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot, received the certification from the Director General of ICDL GCC Foundation, the awarding body for the ICDL in the Gulf Region. The validity runs until June 2008.
The ICDL is a competency standard for computer literacy in over 140 countries. It aims to raise the general level of competency in IT, improve productivity at work, reduce user support costs and enable employers to invest more efficiently in IT. The ICDL is designed for a person to 'drive' a computer with the same ease as they might drive a car. With over 3.5 million participants worldwide, the ICDL is a recognised competency standard endorsed and administered by the Australian Computer Society.
The ICDL Certification is recognised worldwide as showing competency in fundamental computer skills across most commercial software platforms (Microsoft, Lotus, etc.). The ICDL certification helps increase employees' confidence to participate in the global digital society and increase one's value in the workplace by possessing a valuable credential.
For the employers, the ICDL provides a simple and reliable means of identifying computer competencies of both existing employees and future job applicants.
The ICDL process is based upon a standard worldwide Syllabus, which is developed and maintained by the ECDL Foundation. This ensures consistent ICDL program quality in every country of operation.
The ICDL Syllabus has been reviewed and endorsed as a computer literacy standard by numerous international educational institutions and computing societies. The ICDL certification allows everyone to document their acquired knowledge and skills through a series of performance-based tests.
