- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, November 15 - 2007 at 09:26
- PRESS RELEASE
In support of the fight against breast cancer the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is hosting an exhibition of artworks by Pino, one of world's most prominent contemporary realism artists who will visit Dubai for the exhibition.
Governor of the DIFC, His Excellency Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, explains that parallel to the DIFC's mission of fostering the growth of the global financial services industry, the Centre is supporting the development of an equally rich and vibrant cultural life in Dubai.
"Hosting globally-recognised artists such as Pino at the DIFC is very much in line with our strategy to position Dubai a world-class centre for the arts and art commerce," he says. He went on to comment, "the DIFC has a strong desire to support important social causes and Pino is renowned for his sensitive portrayal of women and it is therefore appropriate that the exhibition will benefit the Safe and Sound Breast Cancer Awareness programme".
Internationally acclaimed Pino, an Italian resident in New York, will exhibit 25 originals in his first visit to Dubai. The DIFC gallery is the first in the Middle East to join about 250 galleries around the world that display Pino's works.
Marwan J. Bin Beyat, Director, Art and Culture, DIFC, says the Centre is helping to build new bridges of understanding and appreciation between East and West: "Just as the DIFC serves as a gateway for the global financial markets, its cultural commitment is to position Dubai as a new hub for the exhibition and trade of contemporary art from across the world."
The exhibition is sponsored by Wud Flowers, Saladicious and Birdie Communication.
