This scheme adds to a list of benefits that the company's employees now enjoy and includes housing loans, a saving scheme, health scheme and PC loan, plus more.

The Batelco Scholarship Scheme aims to achieve a number of goals that includes helping to defray employees' expenditure for their children's education, and increasing the number of students benefiting from scholarships, thus complementing the role of the Ministry of Education. Additionally, Batelco's support helps towards supplying the market with a qualified workforce to help push forward the national economy wheel.

'By offering further benefits to its employees, Batelco aims to highlight the importance and value of its workforce,' said Batelco Human Resources & and Government Relations General Manager Shaikh Ahmed Al Khalifa.

'The Company's management is confident that employees appreciate this initiative. Such endeavours have a positive impact on the company and the kingdom as a whole,' he added.

Some 77 employees' children have so far benefited from the scheme since its launch in 2000.

Shaikh Ahmed stressed that the scheme's committee applies transparent and fair selection criteria and conducts regular reviews in order to enhance the scheme so that more candidates can benefit in the future.
