The honour was presented to Nodjoumi by Dr. Alexander Scott, Chief Executive Officer, Chartered Insurance Institute, at a special ceremony in Dubai on Wednesday.

It is the first time that an executive working in the Middle East has been named for such a prestigious position in the CII.

Nodjoumi was named in the position following his long-term personal involvement in helping to create new training and professional development opportunities for financial professionals in the Middle East.

'Mahmoud has played an important role in helping develop and implement training and qualification processes for our industry in the Middle East. This has made a significant contribution to the careers of many people in the region, and has also increased clients' confidence in the quality of advice they are receiving,'

said Dr. Scott.

'We are certain that Mahmoud will continue to play an active and ambassadorial role as International Vice President,' he added.

Under Nodjoumi's direction, Nexus is working with the CII to help improve the standard of professional certification through the introduction of a specially-developed Qualification for the Middle East.

Nexus already places a premium on encouraging its representatives to pursue certification as well as professional and ethical standards, with advisers encouraged and assisted financially to study for a qualification.

'My appointment as International Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Insurance means a great deal to me, as the group has played an important role internationally in helping guide the growth and development of the financial services industry,' said Nodjoumi.

'I am honoured to be named for this position, and believe that we will be able to work together to continue to develop professional standards and processes, both globally and regionally,' he added.

The CII has 90,000 members and has been at the forefront in setting professional standards for the insurance industry for over a century. Founded as the first insurance institute in the UK in 1873, it has grown to include members in 150 countries.
