Educated at Syracuse University in the United States of America, Ali held senior positions at ANZ Bank in London, ANZ Grindlays Bank Ltd. in Karachi and Deutsche Bank Pakistan prior to this appointment and currently serves as a Non Executive Member of the Board of First Dawood Islamic Bank.
In his previous role as Chief Executive and Head of Global Banking Division of Deutsche Bank's operations in Pakistan, Ali implemented a significant re-structuring exercise which enabled the Bank to align towards a new strategic agenda. He also successfully obtained a mandate for the Bank for the first Eurobond issued by the Government of Pakistan in 2004.
'Backed by his 20-year long experience in the international banking industry, Ali was the ideal candidate to take on the challenge to oversee the Bank's operations in Saudi Arabia,' expressed Sheikh AbdulMalik bin Abdullah Al-Khalili, Chairman of BankMuscat.
'As the first bank from Oman to open a branch in the Kingdom, Ali's extensive experience in global relationship management and panache for developing new markets will lead us in our vision to provide high quality products and services to an even wider range of customers.'
He concluded, 'This is an exciting time for BankMuscat and we are inspired by the challenge that lies ahead.'
BankMuscat Khayrat, which represents the Bank's comprehensive efforts towards expansion in the region, provides customized consumer and corporate banking services that cater to the needs of the Saudi market, including current, savings and investment accounts; consumer finance; corporate finance; trade finance and ATM services. Product offerings will be augmented with private banking and investment banking services in the near future.
