RTA recently acquired Dubai Police and Dubai Municipality assets and selected CNS' and SPAN Group's tailor-made offering as it complements the company's business model and expansion plans. The integrated solution incorporates best-of-breed technologies such as mobile computers, data collection systems, barcode printers and custom labels from Intermec technologies that are provided by CNS and the Fixed Asset Management Solution - FAMS, from Span Group.
'In keeping with our current growth strategy, we were looking for a highly reliable solution to manage our record keeping and asset tracking processes as well as provide the highest security level,' said Ahmed Ali Al Kaabi, Deputy Director of Finance Department & General Budget Manager, RTA.
In order to understand RTA's requirements and provide recommendations for best business practices, CNS and Span Group conducted a full physical count of all fixed assets. SPAN Group also classified RTA's assets - presenting a final report of the distribution of site, building and department - before commencing the implementation process.
'We are very pleased with the services and solutions provided by CNS and SPAN Group that will help further our goals. We look forward to scaling up the solution to meet our future requirements as new modules and features are revealed,' added Al Kaabi.
With SPAN Group's FAMS and Intermec's technologies provided by CNS, RTA will now be able to enjoy total and continuous visibility of all assets.
'RTA needed an efficient solution to manage and track its fixed assets - from furniture, IT equipment and electronic appliances to workshops, busses and parking ticketing machines. Estimating RTA's assets' financial value based on its associated condition and age was another key requirement,' said Zahi Bitar, Solutions and Development Manager, SPAN Group.
'In collaboration with CNS, we examined RTA's need and proposed our consulting services in conjunction with our best-of-breed FAMS to fulfill the company's current and future requirements.'
CNS provided their market-leading training, knowledge transfer, and support dexterity to enable business users to become competent with the Intermec Units while operating in RTA's receiving areas and inside the stores.
'It is extremely expensive for RTA if users are unable to operate and complete their tasks with the handheld units. Reliable devices, proper training and ongoing support is key to continuous success', adds Mr. Nicholas Barakat, Software Solutions Business Unit Manager at CNS.
'With Intermec's mobile computers, store keepers will be able to conduct operations in real time and in a paperless environment so that tasks in point of action areas are remotely managed and uploaded to RTA's systems through the existing network. Transactions such as receiving, transferring, issuing, and physical count are also simply automated.'
