- Saudi Arabia: Monday, November 19 - 2007 at 11:42
- PRESS RELEASE
Zamil Air Conditioners, a sector business of Zamil Industrial, has been honored with the 'Award of Distinction' for its Saudization program designed to create employment opportunities for Saudi nationals.
The celebration was organized on the occasion of the 24th session of the Labor and Social Affairs Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in Riyadh from 13-14 November 2007. Dr. Abdulrahman A. Al Zamil, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zamil Industrial, was honored by HE Dr. Ghazi Al-Ghosaibi, Minister of Labor, in recognition of Zamil Air Conditioners' success in phasing in Saudi workers and professionals.
The recognition for Zamil Air Conditioners pioneering role as one of the national companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia actively supporting employment opportunities and providing quality technical and on-the-job vocational training programs for its local staff.
In his speech, Dr. Al Zamil cited the extraordinary efforts of the GCC countries in general and Saudi Arabia in particular towards facilitating the localization process of the workforce, emphasizing the role of the Riyadh based Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) to share in the training costs and encourage companies to do more for Saudi labor to enhance the Kingdom's technical resources capabilities.
One of the most important features of Zamil Air Conditioners Saudization plan is the integration of job training programs, where Saudi youth go through several training stages prior to assignment in their final positions on the production lines or elsewhere within the company. This program aims at providing worker-trainee the necessary skills to make him feel he belongs to a caring company.
Zamil Air Conditioners' regular curricula and training workshops are carefully balanced between theoretical and practical training. The ultimate goal is the improvement of the skills of Saudi youth in various fields. Since it inception in 1975, the issue of localizing jobs in Zamil Air Conditioners has been one of the most critical issues. A strategy was implemented by management to complement the relentless efforts exerted by the government to provide real working opportunities for Saudi youth.
