Abu Dhabi Women's College presents 'Career Opportunities Fair 2007'
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, November 19 - 2007 at 12:39
- PRESS RELEASE
The Career Development and Employer Relations department of the Abu Dhabi Women's College presented the Career Opportunities Fair 2007 on 14th November, in the ADWC Assembly Hall.
The Career Fair allows students to meet employers who are seeking potential candidates to fill open and upcoming positions. Students were able to find out about development programs from companies that actively seek to increase the knowledge and skill level of their employees.
For example, First Gulf Bank's "Mawared" program trains UAE Nationals for leadership roles in the bank. The program helps to develop the competencies required for a successful career in banking and provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of the bank's interdepartmental functions and operations. First Gulf Bank made a presentation regarding the program at the Career Fair and provided students with more information.
Students also had a chance to meet and interact with representatives of other companies present at the Career Fair and find out the opportunities available. " Employer events such as this give students an ideal opportunity to network with employers and to find out the skills employers are looking for in the current UAE job market," said Jane Tatterton, ADWC's Career Development and Employment Coordinator. "Students need to understand the importance of being prepared for the job market and this event allows them to gain a better understanding of career opportunities."
Over 20 companies responded to the call to participate in the Career Fair and over 400 final year students attended. The students, most of whom will soon be in the job market, were eager and excited about meeting potential employers and finding out what's currently available in various industries.
The students collected information on the companies present, made contacts with potential employers and distributed their CVs. The anticipated result is that a large number of ADWC students will soon be employed throughout the Emirate.
